How many categories can I add to a wallet?

Currently, there is no limit to how many categories you can add in a single wallet.

What is the difference between a wallet and a category?

Wallets help you group your money, like in real life! Categories help you distinguish where that money is coming from, how it's being spent, saved or budgeted.

Why am I not able to delete a wallet?

If you are unable to delete a wallet, add a category to it in order to delete the wallet.

I added too much/didn't add enough money in my wallet, do I have to delete the wallet and restart?

If you have made a mistake when configuring your wallet or categories, you are able to make quick changes without having to delete anything.

What is a budget?

In Money Journal, you are able to create a wallet that helps you track your budget. Within that wallet, you can create categories that let you be more specific when tracking how much money is spent.

What is a non budget?

You are able to make a wallet in Money Journal that lets you track spending without a wallet. This wallet can be helpful for bigger purchases or if you don't have a specific budget for the purchase.

What are savings?

Savings is income not spent, usually saved for a bigger purchase, investment or emergency in the future. In Money Journal, you are able to create a savings wallet which tracks money you put away or money you decide not to spend. Within the wallet, you are able to set Saving Goals. Goals are made to make what you are saving towards easier to track.

What are bills?

Bills are cycled payments for goods and services. In Money Journal, you are able to create a Bills wallet. You are able to make multiple categories to organise specific payments. Features like Cycle, which allows you to set how often you pay for the bill and billing date which lets you set the date of payments makes keeping track of your bills very simple!

What are repeating bills?

Repeating bills refers to bills that are payed regularly. In Money Journal, you are able to create a bill that has a set date and cycles.

What are Ad hoc bills?

Ad hoc bills are bills that do not occur regularly. In Money Journal, you are able to create bills with an end date to help sort out bills that do not come up regularly.

What are bill notifications?

Money Journal sends you notifications whenever a bill is overdue or if a bill is unable to be payed due to lack of income.

What are bill schedules?

Money Journal allows you to view a screen that shows you all bills and whether they are payed or not payed.

What is a property?

Property refers to anything a person or business owns. Money Journal allows you to organise your property mortgage, bills, income and investment growth.

What are property costs

Property costs refers to the operation expenses and expenditures incurred of an asset. The 'Cash Flow' tab in Money Journal allows you to see any property costs you have.

What is a loan?

A loan is the lending of money from the bank in exchange for repayment. In Money Journal, you are able to manage your loan and optimise repayments.

What is an asset?

An asset is an item of property with value owned by a person or a business. Money Journal allows you to add and record any liabilities to make it easier to track.

What is a liability?

A liability refers to a person or business' obligations, either money owed or services not yet performed. Money Journal allows you to add and record any liabilities to make it easier to track.

What are debts?

A debt is a sum of money that is owed or due. The 'Cash Flow' tab in Money Journal allows you to see any debts you have and how long you have to repay them.

What is income?

Income is money received on a regular basis from work or investments. In Money Journal, you can input your income sources to easily track the money you receive. Within the configurations, you are able to set the date you get payed as well as the end date if needed.

What is an anonymous account?

An anonymous account is an account within Money Journal that is not registered. You are able to tap 'Skip' on the top right of account registration when you first open Money Journal. If Money Journal gets deleted, you will lose all of your data and will be able to retrieve it. You are able to register later on but until then, your data will not be saved and your account an only be used on the device you are currently using.

Common Terms Within Money Journal

Rollover

When enabled, any amount of money unspent within a budget will be carried over to the next cycle.

Cycles

Cycle refers to when and how ofter a budget will cycle/repeat.

Time period

Time period refers to the tie which is indicated within a wallet or category.

Currencies

Currencies refers to the currency you use in Money Journal. You are able to change your main currency in the 'More' tab at the bottom. You are also able to set a currency for a specific bill or budget.

Your share

Your share refers to the percentage of the bill you are paying for.

Share ammount

Share amount refers to your calculated share of a bill based on the amount and share percent.

Technical FAQs

Is it possible to change my username?

Unfortunately, there is no way to change usernames and there are no plans to implement this feature in the near future.

Is it possible to change my email?

Contact the support team: support@dimmple.com and request an email change. We plan on implementing a quick and easier way to change emails but for now, please contact the support team.

Is it possible to change the background colour?

In the current version, there is no way to change the background colour. In the future, we plan to implement this feature so, keep an eye out!

My preferred language is not an option. Will there be more languages available?

We intend to implement more languages in the future.

Is there a way to share my wallet with a friend who also uses the app?

Currently, there is no way to share wallets with others. However, you are able to export transactions as a text document.

A specific feature is not working/app crashes during use, what do I do?

If you notice any bugs, please contact out support team: support@dimmple.com and we will work to fix any bugs or issues ASAP.

Does this app have a premium subscription?

Money Journal has a premium subscription. Premium offers a multitude of extra options and quality of life features. However, the app is fully functional without the subscription.

I have suggestions for the app, how do I share them with the developers?
